Amy has owned Reflections Hair Design since 2007; however, she has worked at Reflections since 1983 when she was first hired as a receptionist. Amy loves the salon atmosphere and attributes her happiness there to the people she employs and the relationships she has built with numerous wonderful clients throughout her career. Working at the salon for so many years has given her much insight to the exhilarating changes the industry offers!
“It’s exciting to develop new ideas in our business and very fulfilling to motivate the Reflections team. I love my staff; they are amazing, talented, honest, hard-working, and extremely fun to be around!”
Amy graduated from Ontario back in the fabulous ’80s! During her time away from the salon, she enjoys traveling, playing golf, spending time with family, and attending sporting events and musical shows. A trip to Guatemala deeply touched her life, and she plans to return there multiple times to volunteer for an on-going humanitarian project.
She is humbled that God has blessed her life with a supportive and wonderful family, which includes a brother and two sisters; her two beautiful children, Bryson and Anna; a loving daughter-in-law, Jenn (who she claims as her own child); and two sweet granddaughters. God is good, all the time.
Lori was born and raised in Shelby, Ohio, where she still resides. She has been in the hair industry since 1984 and says she wanted to do this profession since birth! She loves all aspects of it and is especially known for her makeup transformation abilities. She loves doing complete makeovers—she says, “when you look good, you feel good!”
Lori is passionate about her family and animals. She spends as much time as possible with her granddaughter, Brittain, and two grandsons, Riley and Roman, and loves watching sports. (Go Bucks!)
Lori is a supporter of and has a great respect for the Ronald McDonald House (Children’s Hospital) where her daughter had open heart surgery, and she loves to help the local animal shelter as well. Lori enjoys golfing, and her team won the Linda Horning Memorial Golf Outing sponsored by Reflections.
Ever since she can remember, Crystal has had a passion to become a stylist. There are pictures of her at three years old standing on a step stool, making her tall enough, to “fix” her grandma’s hair. Decades later, she is living her dream.
Crystal received her cosmetology license in 2002, and, in 2006, she began working at Reflections Hair Design. Her goal is to create an environment in which her clients are at ease to express themselves and their ideas. More than anything, she wants her clients to love the way they look. Making other people feel great about themselves is only part of the satisfaction that Crystal gets from her job. She is drawn to learning new techniques and styles and is always challenging herself so that each haircut is better than the last. She continues to grow and learn by attending numerous advanced educational classes. Her talents include a wide variety of cutting, styling, coloring, perming, and facial/body waxing services.
When Crystal is not behind the chair, you can probably find her spending time with her daughter and husband. Some of her other interests include enjoying the great outdoors, cooking, relaxing, spending time with friends and family, and trying to maintain a healthy lifestyle.
Shannon has been in the hair industry for many wonderful years and has been with Reflections since 1998. Shannon can honestly say she loves what she does! As long as she can remember, she has always wanted to be a hairstylist. Ask her mom—when Shannon was little she would always get the brush stuck in her mom’s hair! Making people look and feel great is only one of the many rewards of this job. She loves to learn and grow and has tons of enthusiasm for this business.
Shannon specializes in color (including balayage coloring) and formal styling. She was a former National Color Educator for Paul Mitchell Systems, which helped her advance in her technical skills, and she has a good eye for placement. She enjoys creating beautiful colors with plenty of dimension. Whether you are a bride, bridesmaid, prom queen, or just going out for a night-on-the town, Shannon is your girl! She loves to create updos and can complete your look with a professional makeup application.
In her spare time, Shannon enjoys spending time with family, especially her nieces and nephews, shopping, cooking, and going to hair shows and classes.
So, if you’re looking for a new style or just want a trim, Shannon is here to listen and offer advice and is willing to do whatever it takes for you to look and feel your best!
Ashley has been doing hair since 2011. Unlike a lot of stylists, Ashley did not know life would lead her to a career in hair design! She has always loved art and, for a couple of years, tried all different art forms in college. Realizing that college was not satisfying her dreams, she started a new path in hair school and found her passion!
Ashley did hair for several years here in Mansfield, then decided to try a change of scenery and moved to Annapolis, Maryland. While living there she was able to advance her skills and knowledge by studying L’Oreal Professional advanced cutting with Sassoon Academy Professionals and attended advanced coloring classes for Ombre and Balayage techniques.
After three years in the eastern state, Ashley moved back to her hometown area with her son. Although very passionate about hair, she is even more passionate about family! She is very excited to be a part of Reflections’ team and is ready to write the next chapter!
Jen joined Team Reflections in January of 2014. She attended cosmetology school at Apex Academy in Mansfield, Ohio, where she received a wonderful education. Before going into the cosmetology field, she attended Mount Vernon Nazarene University, where she went on to become a teacher and coached several sports. Jen chose to become a hairstylist because she is super passionate about making people feel beautiful and using new techniques to design and create new styles. One of her greatest rewards being a stylist is building a trusting relationship with clients.
She loves to laugh and have fun. She loves fashion and being unique. Other than hair, Jen loves doing make up and also thoroughly enjoys fun trendy lip stains.
When Jen’s not working and staying busy, she’s spending time with her husband, Joe, and is busy chasing after her their two rugrats, Jason and June, and their 130lb fur-baby, Duke. During her free time she loves to enjoy the outdoors, hiking, reading, cooking, and, now a days, being able to take relaxing baths without being interrupted (which is hardly ever)! Anything that involves a competition of some sort, you better believe Jen will be up for the challenge! She says, “It’s so important to be the best version of myself, which includes being competitive with myself daily, furthering my talent to become more educated and creative with new trends and techniques that continually come out.”
Vicki has been with the Reflections team since 1982. She knew in 6th grade that she wanted to be a hairdresser because every time she would go to the salon to get her hair done she never liked it, so she decided when she grew up she would be a hairdresser and style peoples hair so they DID like it!
Vicki is a very honest person, so if a client brings in a picture and it won’t quite fit their hair type or it is more maintenance than they realize, she will tell them and help direct them to a style that best fits them. When Vicki first began in the business, she attended many advanced classes and still continues to grow in education. Vicki’s favorite cut is anything that has stack to it! No one should ever think they have learned everything.
An instructor once told her, “if you think you have learned everything, it is time to get out of the industry!” So, with that said, Vicki is still learning, even from the younger members of her team. Her goal when she comes to work is to have clients leave feeling good about themselves! Vicki loves the team she works with at Reflections!
Vicki is passionate about teaching young girls to twirl the baton. She’s been teaching baton since 1975 and currently directs the Galion Tigerettes Baton Corps and is the High School Majorette Advisor. She couldn’t imagine her life without these programs!
Vicki lived most of her life in Galion and is a very big fan of small towns! She is a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church. Vicki and her husband both sing in the choir and are involved in lots of committees. She is very involved in the food pantry outreach program at her church.
Vicki’s family is a big part of her life. They help make her who she is! Her dad passed away eight years ago, and he is so missed…he was such a wonderful role model. She talks to her mom many times daily; they are very close! Vicki loves to travel to New York City where her oldest brother and his family live, but she is also blessed to have her younger brother and his family close so they can visit often! She has three wonderful step children who all have great spouses and all live in the area. They get to see each other often!
Vicki hopes she can be remembered for her love of life. God has blessed her so much with good family and friends!
Jill has always known she would be a stylist. She’s sure her mom would agree since all of her dolls had bangs and all her mom’s curling irons were always missing! Jill’s passions can be summed up in four easy words — hair, animals, and animals! They are two things that she has always enjoyed. She loves the feeling of coming to work, but it doesn’t feel like work—it’s enjoyment. The same goes for her pets. They are not pets or animals—they are her happiness. Who doesn’t love being greeted by floppy ears and a wagging tail!
A perfect day or weekend for Jill would be camping with her husband and dogs and doing some hiking. She loves being outdoors, whether it’s warm or cold. She has lived in Mansfield for the majority of her life but would love to eventually move a little more south. Jill loves music, movies, and any form of live entertainment, Broadway musicals, stand-up comedy, you name it—she enjoys it.
Jill would like to be remembered as talking until she takes her very last breath—always smiling, always loving, and always happy.
Nikki has been a hairstylist since 1999 and has been at Reflections since 2001. She attended the State Beauty Academy in Marion, Ohio after graduating from Lexington High School with a 4.2 GPA. Nikki is known as “Nik” to her friends and family and is a dedicated Cincinnati Bengals fan. She says this is a contributing factor to her “sudden onset of weekend depression from September to January.”
Nikki considers herself to be very creative and loves to express her fun creative side with hair styling as an outlet. On days she is not at work, you can usually find her at a local sports bar with a Bud Light or a Rum and Diet Coke tracking her Fantasy Football points with her husband and best friend, Freddy.
When Nikki is not working or out with her husband or friends, she is doing hour-long interval workouts and loving on her rott, Lita. She also considers Team Reflections as family and says she feels very fortunate and blessed to have worked with such an awesome, fun, and supportive group of gals for such a long time.
Melissa started cutting hair at age five: dolls, Barbies, and her own bangs. By 6th grade, she was trimming her own hair along with family and friends—although not always successfully! She loved to use hot rollers and the curling iron on friends and family whenever they came to visit. By junior high, she knew she wanted to go to Pioneer Career Center for the cosmetology program. Before she graduated, she was called to interview at Reflections where she worked under Linda Horning for a couple of months. Melissa has never looked back and still has the same station, #4.
Melissa enjoys keeping her clients updated in styles and colors that are easy to maintain and loves razor cutting. She makes people look their best and encourages them to do the same. Melissa loves being a hairstylist and cannot imagine doing anything else. She is passionate about her family, faith, and others. She also enjoys watching her children in their activities, spending time with her friends and family, cooking, grilling, and gardening.
Melissa grew up in the country and went to Lexington schools. After graduating, she married and moved to Lucas where her husband, Kevin, grew up on a farm. Melissa is a junior high leader for junior high girls at Berean Baptist Church, and, in the fall/winter, she volunteers at Mt. Zion food bank.
Things Melissa cannot live without are mascara, eyeliner, lipstick, and the Bible. She would like to be remembered as one who encourages others and her love for the Lord.
Susayn came to Reflections in December 2015 from California with her family to be closer to the grandparents of her two children Mckenzie and Benjamin. She has found a love for the change in seasons that Ohio has, especially the snow. Reflections has been a dream come true, and she will be a lifer.
Susayn enjoys all aspects of the beauty industry; although, her biggest passion is the art of Balayage (hair painting). It gives her freedom to customize the color for each client and to give such a natural look and grow out between appointments. Even in her spare time she also loves furthering her education with continuing education classes and hair shows.
Susayn enjoys fun outings with her children, including fairs, festivals, the carousel downtown, and the park. As a child she was a gymnast for 15 years and still loves to keep up with all the USA gymnastics events!
Reflections is like a second family to Anna. Being born and raised at the salon, she always loved to help clean, restock, fold towels, and greet customers when she was a little girl. Now, Anna works at the front desk as a Salon Coordinator and absolutely loves it! She thinks Reflections embodies the best staff around, the highest core values, and the most unique atmosphere.
Currently Anna is a student at Tiffin University. She is majoring in Managerial Business and wants to use her degree as a vehicle to pursue her dreams in entrepreneurship. Along with everything else, her hobbies include horseback riding, singing, and reading. Horses are one of her biggest passions. She has owned multiple horses and, in the past, has competed in the IHSA, riding both English and Western.
Anna loves to wake up at 5am, grab a cup of coffee, and read her Bible. She is one of the “too happy for the morning” girls. Her motto is to live a fulfilled, healthy, inspiring life that serves the Lord. Through this mission statement she is dedicated to reaching her goals to travel the world and give back through volunteer/mission work.
Debbi can proudly say that after being a full-time hairdresser for more than 30 years, she still feels the same passion, enthusiasm, and desire to make people feel and look their best! She started her career at Lazarus beauty salon, where she worked for eight years. Since then she’s been employed at Reflections Hair Design, and, through those times, she has been inspired by so many amazing hairstylists! Debbi also enjoys attending various continuing education classes in order to stay updated in the newest trends in the industry! She couldn’t have done any of this if it weren’t for such amazing clients, coworkers, and God.
Here are some fun facts. Debbi and her husband, Tim, have been married for over 25 years and have been blessed with one son, Lee. They attend the First Church of God and enjoy spending time as a family. In the summer they love being at the dragstrip watching their son and many of their friends race. Debbi also enjoys running, and she has an amazing run club that she runs with (The Shelby YMCA Run Club)! She’s been running for over a year and can proudly say that she’s completed five half marathons and various five and 10Ks and plans on more in the future! She also loves the salsa dancing class at the Richland Academy.
She says, “I truly love my family, friends, and job!”
“Beauty Shop”—Lisa played a lot of it growing up, so it was natural for her to choose hair styling as her profession years ago. She received her Cosmetology License from Nationwide Beauty Academy in Columbus and began her career at Reflections in 1988. Lisa styled hair for the first 12 years and now focuses on Customer Service and Salon Management.
Customer Service comes natural to Lisa, and she finds it very important that all new and loyal patrons feel welcome during their Reflections visits and are completely satisfied with their experiences. Calling each guest by his or her name and subconsciously making them smile with every salon visit is something she strives for. It’s just in Lisa’s nature – she has been accused of being too energetic and happy all of the time!
Lisa is also the Wedding Coordinator for the salon. She assists brides in scheduling their bridal party for hair, makeup, and nail services. She finds it very fulfilling to take part in making the guests feel beautiful for their special occasions. Reflections is a great place to work when the salon is busy and buzzing with people. She loves it!!
Lisa is married to her high-school sweetheart, Kevin, and they have two wonderful children. Their daughter, Meg, is a registered nurse at Grant Medical Center, and their son, Mitch, is in college working toward an engineering degree. Her biggest passion in life is being a mom.
Lisa’s most enjoyable time is spent with family and friends. She is an avid fan of the Cleveland Cavaliers and Indians and claims basketball as her favorite sport. Lisa and her family are members of The Most Pure Heart of Mary Church and true Shelby Whippets at heart!
Lisa’s relaxation time includes outdoor jogging, tending to her water garden, and “date nights” with Kevin. She always looks forward to visiting Meg in Columbus or having her home for a weekend. The humor in her house comes from their adorable, but very silly, bichon, Frosty. She keeps her laughing!
What most people don’t know about Lisa is she that rocks at solving difficult-level Sudoku puzzles, was born with a tooth that was pulled by a dentist when she was one week old, and must have Extra Firm Hold Hairspray and peanut butter in order to survive.
Katie Parrish Poole
Katie has been doing hair for over 19 years professionally. She has been a part of the Reflections team since 1998. She loves working with color and enjoys updos as they allow her to be creative. If she could do editorial or session work more often, she would love it.
Katie was born and raised in Shelby, Ohio, where she still resides with her husband C.J.
Katie loves to travel, most recently visiting San Francisco, Napa Valley, and driving the California coast. She’s been fortunate enough to spend some time in Ireland, which only fueled her desire to see more of Europe.
Katie loves spending time with her family, watching football (go Bucks!), cooking, curling up with a good book, and visiting the different wineries in Ohio (there’s over 170). She is also passionate about volunteering for Richland County Children’s Auxiliary at “The New Store” and giving back to Mid-Ohio Animal Welfare League, where she found her two cats, Mitch and Miller. She says she is one of those crazy cat people!
